If you’re looking for that unique place for your engagement photos in Sydney, I highly recommend you check out Cockatoo Island. Only a short 20 minute ferry ride from Circular Quay, this is a world away from the hustle and bustle from the city. Once you arrive, you wonder what actually really went on here back in the 1920’s when it was a hive of activity.

These days, it’s merely a historic site with so much character all over the place. We were just in awe of the amazing industrial structures, old rooms for equipment and the amount of old remnants lying around gathering dust.

It’s nice and private away from the crowds, so it makes it perfect for those who are a little camera shy. My clients were really sweet and asked me if I could give them some hints and tps on how to pose for the camera, which I happily did for them. It only took them a few minutes, and they became so good at it I didn’t even need to ask them to!

We walked around slowly appreciating everything around us and imagined what it was like back then when life was just a little bit rough around the edges.

Walking up a huge set of stairs we came to what resembled an old prison cell, where the cells were stripped out and the roof taken away. It was just magical with the sunset behind us as we took some time to appreciate the view of the entire Sydney Harbour.

And then we realised the 4.10 ferry was only 5 minutes away, and we had to hurry ourselves out of Cockatoo Island so were not stuck here forever!

Highly recommend that you come here for your next engagement photography session, or make sure you visit Cockatoo Island. It’s well worth the trip, especially on a Sunday when it’s only $2.50 for your ferry here.
