Preparing for your wedding can be both exhilarating and daunting. There are so many things to do in what feels like such a small amount of time. As someone who was recently married, I understand the feeling. But with a growing to-do list, it’s important not to push aside the fun parts of planning your wedding, like your pre-wedding photography.

For me, my engagement shoot was one of my favourite moments of planning my wedding. But that’s not the only reason you should have a pre-wedding shoot. Here are some reasons why you should definitely have an engagement photo session.

It Gives Me the Chance to Get to Know You

We have probably never met before and most of our interactions have been over the phone. Without knowing you, it’s hard for me to figure out how to best capture your beautiful memories.

The Pre-Wedding Photography Sydney gives me a chance to get to know your personalities. Are you shy or confident, energetic or reserved? How do you interact as a couple? Do you treat her with tremendous displays of affection or do you look at him with quiet appreciation?

The engagement shoot is also your chance to get to know me. I am going to be following you around for hours on your wedding day. You don’t just hire a photographer for the formal wedding shots, you hire us to capture every moment from getting ready to when you drive away after the reception. It’s my face that you are going to see regularly on your big day.

To be comfortable with the camera, you need to be comfortable with me. You need to be able to trust me and the engagement shoot is how we start to build that trust. You’ll get to know me as a person, and understand how I can work with you to make sure you are happy and comfortable with me on your special day.

It Gives Us a Chance to Practice

Unless you’ve spent a lot of time being professionally photographed, you probably haven’t had a lot of experience in front of a camera. The engagement shoot lets you ease into it so you have the opportunity to build some confidence with the lens.

In my experience, a pre-wedding shoot gives couples a chance to learn how to relax with a camera nearby which leads to more natural and beautiful photos on your big day.

It’s also a practice run for me, I can experiment with different shots and you can tell me exactly what you do and don’t like about them. This means that I can tailor your wedding day photos exactly how you want them.

It Gives You a Chance to Get Creative

If there was something you wanted to try with your photos, the engagement shoot is the chance to ask. Was there something new that you wanted to try? Or is there something you’d like to experiment with before the big day?

Whatever it is, I can always try to make it work.
