Carmen & Jeff – A Sydney Wedding at Milestone Events

Weddings

The weather forecast was a bit grim. Fifty percent chance of rain at the time of the wedding ceremony.

Contingencies were in place in the event it was to rain and last minute backup plans were ready.

The morning of the day, the sun came out and early on they decided that they would go with Plan A to have their wedding ceremony out in the open at North Head in Manly.

About 1 hour before the wedding ceremony was about to begin, Miles from Milestone Events asked Jeff what his decision was.

He told him “Let’s go with the outdoor ceremony” and not long after, there was a light shower and we just said, don’t worry it will pass over….and guess what….it did!

A short shower and 15mins later, the weather was clear and we went ahead with the outdoor ceremony with a huge sigh of relief for all that attended…phew!

Ok, so the ceremony went ahead and it was glorious! The dark ominous rain clouds could be seen in the distance over Sydney Harbour and it was luckily not on top of us, so we literally dodged a bullet!

Well, you’re probably wondering how did the rest of the wedding day went?

Pretty great actually…well it all started with Jeff having to bribe his way into Carmen’s family home. The door games is a Chinese tradition that goes way back, where the groom must show his love for his future wife by doing acts of bravery, which included eating a spoonful of wasabi, bouncing around with ping pong balls strapped around their waist, waxing of legs and other really torturous games that involved putting things into his mouth!

So yes, Jeff did survive his acts of bravery and he finally got to see Carmen where they then did the respectful thing and did a Chinese tea ceremony for their elders. It full of happy tears especially when Carmen and Jeff poured tea for her grandmother and her parents.

It was my first time photographing a Sydney wedding at Milestone Events, and Miles (the namesake) of the venue was simply amazing, and ran the evening to a perfect 10. The food and drink service was amazing and the venue is a old 1920’s cottage that is full of history and definitely looks the part if you’re after a venue with some history behind it.

DJ Savvy, a very close industry colleague of mine made sure that no one left the dance floor, and he did exactly that. Even the parents were partying and it was a joy to see!

Here’s the amazing team who made it all possible

Carmen and Jeff’s wedding was one for the ages.
