A arty wedding in the NSW Art Gallery
Archibald prize wining artworks. Weddings. Fine dining by a famous Australian chef.
Not something you associate with each other.
I never thought they would go hand in hand.
But at the NSW Art Gallery it houses a fantastic restaurant run by the one and only Matt Moran, and they actually do weddings inside after the art gallery closes for the day.
What’s really cool about it all?
You get access to the ENTIRE art gallery all to yourself. After hours.
Just like the movie the Night at the Museum.
Except the artwork doesn’t jump out of its canvas and scare the living daylights out of you.
Yes, it was a terrible movie, but you get what I mean!
I recently photographed a wedding inside the NSW Art Gallery, the restaurant is called Chiswick at the Art Gallery wedding.
Picture this (no i didn’t intend to put a pun here).
Autumn 2019. The wettest coldest day in March.
The rain didn’t stop bucketing down all day.
The bride and groom were in a panic because they really wanted an outdoor wedding, but it had to be moved somewhere.
A call to their wedding planner in the morning, and it was all taken care of.
The wedding ceremony will now be hosted inside the NSW Art Gallery after everyone has left for the day.
“Don’t worry, it will look amazing” Juno said.
And it really did. Don’t take my word for it.
Wow! The room looked amazing and yes it was not what they originally had planned, but the team pulled out a cat out of the bag!
So the wedding went on, and i was blown away at how much attention to detail was put into everything.
Oh, and the food by Matt Moran and his team at Chiswick at the Gallery was superb and deserving of an Archibald Prize.
So im not going to talk anymore, and i’ll let the pictures do the talking.
A big shoutout to the amazing vendors who made the day possible
