National Arboretum Canberra Engagement Photography – Nicole + Mark

Wedding Locations

If you are wondering about where you should spend a summer’s afternoon I truly believe the National Arboretum is a pretty special place for your engagement photography in Canberra.

I am primarily a Sydney Wedding Photographer and my clients Nicole and Mark asked that I come down to Canberra to meet them for a coffee and spend some time having some fun getting to know each other before their wedding in October this year.

So I spent the afternoon with Nicole and Mark at the National Arboretum in Canberra. If you are wondering what exactly is an arboretum, I had the exact same question.

With over 44,000 rare and endangered trees across a 250-hectare site, the Arboretum is a place of beauty, conservation, science research, education, tourism and recreation. So you can safely say, it’s a zoo for trees or a tree museum like my daughter would call it.

The site is also home to the iconic Margaret Whitlam Pavilion, award-winning Village Centre with its onsite restaurant, café and gift shop, POD playground and the renowned National Bonsai and Penjing Collection.

It has zones dedicated for the growth of rare and endangered species of trees, examples of these are the Himalayan Cedar, Cork Oak, Common Fig, Chinese Evergreen Magnolia and plenty of others.

It is a beautiful location with grassy fields on top of a small mountain, lovely tall trees and they are all perfectly grown in straight lines so it looks so amazing for wedding photography in Canberra.

I really believe that having an engagement session before your wedding is a really great idea, not only do you get amazing photographs share with your friends and family, but you also get a practice run on how to get comfortable in front of the camera. That to me is a huge reason why so many of my couples choose to book one in, and we also get to have fun getting to know each other so come wedding day we are no longer strangers but friends (and that counts for a lot!)

This is why I encourage you to reach out to me so we can begin getting to know each other. I became a wedding photographer because I’ve been in your shoes, and I know how much it means to have a photographer that cares. I look forward to finding out more about your love story, and how we can work together to tell it through photography!
