If you’re looking for a unique Sydney Wedding Venue that is funky, unique and has a twist of Asia meets Bangkok underground then Chin Chin Sydney is the place you should have your wedding!
Set within one of Sydney’s most iconic buildings, the old world Griffiths Tea building, Chin Chin Events offers a unique wedding and event space in the heart of Surry Hills that sets it apart from the boring old spaces you are used to seeing.
It is bold, daring and defies tradition and pushes the boundary for experimentation and expression of what is Asian dining.
Think neon pink signs, exposed brickwork, loud house music and a sensory overload coming from all angles, shapes and sizes.
And of course, the food must be truly next level and it surely is that in spades!
The food is South East Asian inspired with a spotlight of balancing taste with delicacy, let’s call it Thai fusion with a mix of Muy Thai vs Karate vs ninja!
My clients Anna and Justin had a huge problem when planning their wedding. They hate boring and wanted their wedding day to be fun and reflect their love for Asian food and inner city living.
In their search for a Sydney Wedding venue, they looked at quite a few places, none of them quite ticked their wish list.
Chin Chin is one of their favourite Sydney restaurants, so naturally they had to enquire about having their wedding there and when they realised that they could fit everyone they loved and cared about in the same room eating the same amazing food they loved then they did not have to look any further.
On the menu they had to include Anna’s favourite dish of all time, the Kingfish Sashimi with lime, chilli and Thai basil. It is truly a standout and is arguably their signature dish that pretty much everyone has on their tasting menu.
This was then followed by ponzu oysters and fried squid with nam jim sauce. A smashing combination of traditional meets modern.
If that was not enough, then there is another 7 more courses to go! Think crispy duck pancakes, stir fried lobster tails, crispy barramundi with green apple salad, Penang duck curry, stir fried snake beans and to top it off, vanilla bean and yogurt cheesecake.
The food is complimented by some incredible cocktails that compliment the Asian spiciness so you can drink the night away!
The room comfortably fits 110 seated or 120 cocktail style and I love the old world white brickwork that has the underground club feel with soft pink furnishings that bring the space to life. It looks great night and day.
My experience at Chin Chin Sydney as a Sydney Wedding Photographer was an amazing one. The room photographs really well at night, and has that moody look and feel that is so unique in a world of boring, drab wedding reception venues that you love to hate over the years.
